Israel Diamonds Institute to Hold Rough Diamond Seminar July 12 - 13, 2004



May 27, 2004 -- The Israel Diamond Institute (IDI - http:www.diamonds.org.il) will hold a Rough Diamond Seminar, featuring leading diamond producers and government representatives, on July 12 - 13, 2004 at the Sheraton City Tower Hotel in Ramat Gan, Israel.

Among the special guests who will address the seminar are Deputy Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Sierra Leone Minister of Natural Resources Alhaji Swarray Deen, Canada's Northwest Territories Minister of Resources Brendan Bell, South African Diamond Board Chairman and former Chair of the Kimberley Process Abbey Chikane, as well as executives from ENDIAMA, Alrosa, DTC, , BHP Billiton, Majescor, Afri-Can Marine Minerals, Vaaldiam Resources, Trans Hex Group, Stornoway Diamonds, Pele Mountain Resources, Brazilian Diamonds, MIBA, Cannacord and ABN AMRO Bank. Israelis active in mining operations, including Lev Leviev and Beny Steinmetz, will also speak at the seminar.

The seminar is intended for Israeli diamond manufacturers, exporters and wholesalers, with about 400 participants expected.

This seminar is part of the Israel Diamond Institute's efforts to ensure a steady supply of rough diamonds to the Israeli industry, one of the major challenges currently facing the industry. IDI is taking an active role in locating new sources of rough diamonds for the industry, reaching out to producing countries and mining companies, as well as encouraging Israeli diamantaires interested in investing in these activities. IDI hopes that this seminar will lead to significant business transactions between Israeli diamantaires and producers.
