New Diamond Ah Ring Marketed to Single Women Creates Coast to Coast Demand
With a market of 43 million single women in the country, Ruta Fox is betting women will buy The Ah Ring for themselves and not wait for Mr. Right to give them beautiful diamonds. Fox, a former advertising copywriter, created The Ah Ring in December 2000, after several friends admired her stunning band of diamonds worn on her pinky.
With a background in marketing, branding and advertising, Fox knew the importance of creating "buzz" around the ring. "Since I was single, I named it The Ah Ring, and decided "Ah" would symbolize being A, available and h, happy. I thought since married women have wedding rings, and engaged women have engagement rings, single women should have a diamond ring they could buy and call their own. And, there was nothing out there being marketed directly to single women," says Fox.
According to the Jewelry Information Center in New York City, a trade organization, women purchasing jewelry for themselves is one of the fastest growing segments in the jewelry industry. Additionally, "singleness" is ranked 3 out of the Top 10 trends on the rise around the world as more people postpone or forego marriage, according to the Futurist magazine.
The Ah Ring was an instant success, generating over $1 million dollars of sales in the first year. After being featured in a full-page editorial in O, The Oprah Magazine (March, 2001) as a personal favorite of Oprah's. Almost 4,000 Ah Rings have been sold through Ah Ring's exclusive 800 number. The ring is not sold in any retail stores.
Fox, an entrepreneur, also co-created and edited Exposure Magazine, a highly successful publication that was sold to Capital Cities/ABC in 1989. Fox has been President and CEO of Divine Diamonds Corporation since it's inception in 2001.
The Ah Ring has 11 full-cut diamonds (totaling .21 points) and is set in gleaming14K white gold. It is engraved Ah inside. It sells for $295.00, and is exclusively available by calling 800-310-9694, or by visiting www.ahring.com.
